Welcome to my portfolio page, where I'm thrilled to share one of the projects i've worked on with you. It was a collaborative effort to create a new design for the Wickers football kit, in partnership with Nike, Tottenham Textiles, HeyBigMan, and Aitch Group. The project gave me a unique opportunity to demonstrate a versatile array of skills, including graphic design concepts, design thinking, and project management. I will be discussing my experiences working on this project and the tools and technical skills I used.
The Wickers football kit project was an exciting opportunity for me to work with some of the biggest names in the sports and fashion industry. The goal was to create a new and innovative design that would embody the spirit of London and empower a new generation of young Londoners. We worked with Nike's Nigeria Football shirt designer, Peter Hoppins, who provided us with the inspiration and guidance we needed to create a design that would stand out.
The design process began with extensive research and exploration of various graphic design concepts. We conducted market research, analyzed industry trends, and brainstormed ideas to create a design that would be unique, innovative, and meaningful. We used design thinking to guide our decision-making process, which involved prototyping, user testing, and iteration. In the end my design for th ehome kit was selected to be the final design
One of the key challenges we faced during the project was the integration of multiple design elements into the final design. The design featured a yellow, grey, and black camo pattern, which we combined with sketches, doodles, and designs created by local schoolchildren. We wanted to weave the identity of the young Londoners into the kits, empowering them and giving them a sense of ownership over the design.
To achieve this, we implemented specific complex graphic designer techniques, such as layering and texture manipulation, to blend the various design elements seamlessly. We used Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator to create the design, utilizing various tools and techniques to achieve the desired effect.
Another aspect of the project that I found particularly challenging was working with the management team in managing the collaboration between the various partners involved. We worked closely with Tottenham Textiles, HeyBigMan, and Aitch Group, ensuring that their contributions to the project were integrated seamlessly into the final design. Effective communication and project management skills were critical in ensuring that the project was completed on time and to the highest possible standard. This hands on experiences gave me an insight on what it is like to manage a project within a workforce to produce an end user product. Although i wasnt the chief project management officer, having the opportunity to take part gave me invaluable skills.
Working on the Wickers football kit project was an incredible experience that taught me a lot about graphic design concepts, design thinking, and project management. It was a collaborative effort that required a high level of teamwork and communication, as well as technical skills and knowledge. I learned a lot from working with some of the biggest names in the sports and fashion industry, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to have been a part of such an exciting project.
In conclusion, the Wickers football kit project was an exciting opportunity for me to showcase my graphic design skills and collaborate with some of the biggest names in the industry. The project required a high level of creativity, technical knowledge, and project management skills, which I was able to demonstrate effectively. I'm proud of the final design we created, which embodies the spirit of London and empowers a new generation of young Londoners.
