  • Welcome to the Legends of Draconia project page! My name is David Nwachukwu, and I'm a software engineer and game developer with a passion for creating immersive video games that allow players to experience fantastical worlds beyond their imagination.

Legends of Draconia is an open-world RPG video game that I've been developing as a passion project. The game draws inspiration from two of my favorite franchises, How to Train Your Dragon and The Legend of Zelda. In Legends of Draconia, players will be able to tame and ride elemental dragons while exploring a vast world filled with dungeons and quests.

The game is being developed on the Unity game engine, which allows me to create a game that is both visually stunning and technically challenging. To bring the game to life, I used premade assets as placeholders while I worked on testing game mechanics and designing the open-world levels.

Throughout the development process, I had the opportunity to demonstrate a versatile array of skills, including programming, game design, and project management. I work on every aspect of the game, from the 3d level design to programming game mechanic. This experience is teaching me a great deal about game development and the importance of planning, and attention to detail.

One of the most significant programming concepts that I use when working on Legends of Draconia is object-oriented programming. This programming technique allows me to create classes that represent the game's entities, such as the dragons and the player character. By using inheritance and polymorphism, I am able to create a flexible and scalable game architecture that can be easily extended with new features.

Another programming concept that I use extensively is game physics. Dragons are not only essential to the game's narrative, but they are also a significant gameplay mechanic. I had to implement complex physics calculations to simulate the dragons' movement and interactions with the environment. By using Unity's physics engine and custom scripts, I was able to create a realistic and immersive dragon riding experience.

To create an immersive and believable game world, I have to pay close attention to level design and game mechanics. For example, I used the Unity NavMesh system to create a pathfinding system that allows dragons to navigate the world and follow the player. I also implemented a day-night cycle and weather system that changes the game's lighting and atmosphere, making the game feel more alive and dynamic.

Developing Legends of Draconia is an incredibly rewarding experience for me. I've had the opportunity to work on a project that combines my passion for game development with my love of fantasy and adventure. Throughout the development process, I've learned valuable skills that will help me in future game development projects, such as project planning, and technical skills.

While Legends of Draconia is still a work in progress, I'm excited to continue working on it and bringing it closer to completion. I believe that this game has the potential to provide players with a truly unique and unforgettable gaming experience, and I'm committed to making that vision a reality.
